LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player Review

I'm definately not a computer guru, but I was a little disappointed in the quality of the Netflix streaming video. I connected the BD390 via Cat 5 to a 1GB network connected to a Cox Cable modem (13 Mbps) and the speed rating displayed by Netflix was about mid range. The picture quality (which is automatically controlled by the detected speed rating) was poor, and I found out the sound is always stereo, no matter how fast the connection. Later on that night, I watched Cannonball 2, and apparently the speed rating improved because the picture was much better (acceptable SD in fact). I can upgrade the cable speed to 25 Mbps for an additional $15 a month, but until Netflix offers more HD video and something more than stereo audio, I'm not sure it will be worth it.

I also tried to connect to my HP 495 MediaSmart Server, but was only able to view the photos (it wouldn't play the songs or videos). I haven't had time to troubleshoot that problem yet.

If I can get it to play well with the HP 495 I'll be happy overall. If Netflix starts offering higher quality streaming, I'll be VERY happy!

Update: I haven't had time to troubleshoot the HP 495 issues, but I've since watched several Netflix videos and am very pleased with the experience, overall.Get more detail about LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player.
